Driving slowly through Richmond Park I see that there are lots of stags and deer out!
"I hope we get to see some at the session", I am thinking to myself. The rain has just stopped and the sun is peeking through the largely grey cloud-covered sky.
I reach the parking lot and wait for Candice and her family to arrive. After a few minutes, I spot them with their two little girls, Izzie and Millie. All of them are smiling and after some introductions, we head on down along the first path. I have been to this part of the park twice already to check it out and find good photography spots – both times with my dog and my husband (We really love Richmond Park!), so I know just where to go. Of course, the girls are not aware of any premade plans but instantly decide to climb a giant log. "I'll roll with it!", I think to myself, and jump in to get involved with my camera
The theme of the day
We find so many lovely little hidden away spots to explore and the main theme of the day quickly becomes the hunt for spotting a deer or a stag. "Are they sleeping in the grass?", "Are they hiding behind that tree?", and "Are they in that bush over there?". We do actually spot a stag or two and the excitement is through the roof. We realise they are very hard to see as they are so well camouflaged! It is a good idea to look out for their horns and listen out for their moo's.
