2016: In retrospect

2016_1.jpg

This has been the most amazing year by far!

The other week I was asked to rate my 2016 on a scale of 1-10 and it landed at an amazing 9.5! There have been some bumps along the way of course (not to mention large-scale things such as Brexit and then Trump winning the American election!) but personally, this is a year that will be tricky to beat. Here are some of the highlights!

BECAME A MRS WARD

Getting married to my best friend and soulmate was obviously the most amazing thing ever! I never thought of myself as a brides person (i.e. I've never really been interested in weddings before) but this is one experience I would love to relive! We kept it small and intimate – just us and 25 guests. It was on one of the hottest summer evenings of the year (23rd of July) and everything was like a fairytale. Literally – a butterfly fluttered down and landed on my bouquet during the ceremony!!

WENT ON A MOST WONDERFUL HONEYMOON

I've never been on such a lavish, fantastic holiday ever. We went to Crete, Greece to a newly built adult only five-star hotel. Although I absolutely love children, it was nice to spend some time with just adults. And the servie we had! Wow. Just wow. If you want to see more from our honeymoon, check out this blog post I wrote just after; Honeymoon in Crete

GOT A CAR

Highlight number three, we finally got our own car! This has been a dream since I first moved to London, and with more and more photoshoots getting booked, it became an absolute necessity. We got a Vauxhall Astra and I am so pleased. There will definitely be enough space for family additions, when we decide to expand .. :-)

FOUND OUR NEW LIVING PLACE

Although we are yet to move, Guildford has its name written on our hearts. Being a small town girl, having more open fields around me and breathing fresh air has been a dying wish for long. London is an amazing place filled with opportunity, but it can get quite busy and stressful sometimes.

DISCOVERED CHURCH LIFE & VOLUNTEERING

Another huge thing that happened this year was that I discovered Hillsong church and got baptised! This has brought along a new perspective to both my personal and work life. I now go about life with even more passion, a stronger sense of wanting to serve the people I meet – regardless if they are paying clients, family members or homeless people on the street.

HAD TONNES OF PUG SNUGGLES

Spending more time working from home has meant I get tonnes and tonnes of more opportunities snuggling with my pug Watson :-) He is my fur baby and I love him to the moon and back!

FOUND MY BRAND IDENTITY

Little Swedehearts has, over the course of 2016, become more defined in terms of branding and photographic style. I finally embraced my free spirited scandi roots by incorporating more natural materials and allowing children to run free in the woods during sessions. Finding that brand identity has been a bit of a dream-come-through as it is both a great comfort and a great compass into the new year

How has your 2016 been?
